Context

This was the product of the first production design course I took at university. The task was to create a miniature scaled set model of our choice. We were given the opportunity to either replicate a pre-existing set from media or create our own story. I chose the latter. Working under a 1:20 scale, I created a Firewatch tower in under 3 weeks. My inspiration to make a fire watch tower came from learning that Georges Méliès’ A Trip To The Moon (1902) was partially filmed inside his greenhouse. I was fascinated by the idea of using lots of glass to build a set, to which I reminisced on Campo Santos’ Video game, Firewatch, and the idea was born.
